BULLDOGS AND DUCKS CAN BE FRIENDS.
This months Montego Guest Bloggers are Helga and Jannie Els, they sent us such a cute story and we can’t wait for you to read it!
We moved into a Townhouse complex in 2012. We love animals and started doing research to try and find a breed that would fit into a complex lifestyle. The breed that most people recommended was an English Bulldog, but we still needed more convincing. We then bought an English bulldog pup (Milly) for our daughter and son in law as a birthday gift.
Milly came to visit and we fell in love with her. We found a registered breeder in Ventersdorp and collected our pup, posted a pic on Facebook and asked our friends to suggest a name for her. By the time we got back, Mika was her name. We have 3 special ducks that climb onto our laps lap and we see them as our guardian angels.
Mika and the ducks grew up together and have a special bond. They play together and weekends are a special treat watching them chase each other. Really ducking and diving. We bought another Bulldog named Jonty, as a companion for Mika. Milly came to visit for 6 months while the kids waited to move into a house with a yard. When the time came for Milly to go back to the kids, we knew we would not be able to separate Milly and Jonty. We started to search for another Bulldog pup. We fell in love with Winston from the first moment that we saw his photo on Facebook. Mika is a real softy and when the ducklings hatched, she came rushing into the house to tell us the good news.
The 7 new ducklings moved in with the kids and they continue with the tradition of Bulldogs and ducks.
When we go to town, people ask us ‘‘How’s the Family?’’ Cause they all know about our 4 Bulldogs and 10 ducks in our big happy family.
